New Year Resolutions
I left a long time ago
Never comes to fruition
So now I go with the flow

The Universe has
A plan of its own
Erases mine enmasse
Plants its, firm like a throne

Its amazing plan
I've learned to trust
Sometimes hard to understand
But always robust

Eventually I find
They're grand and exciting
Better than mine
And always uplifting

New Year Resolutions
I left a long time ago
Never comes to fruition
So now I go with the flow

~x~

  1. Loved this! I think I will follow suit and just go with the flow trying to hitchhike on the waves of joy and compassion whenever the opportunity arises.

  2. Nice poem, Suzy. I like the sentiment. I, too, just go with the flow and don't make resolutions that set me up for failure. The Universe always has other plans anyhow! I've learned that as I age, acceptance of what is becomes more and more important. ;) Happy 2014!

    1. Thanks Cat. So true, the Universe just has a mind of it's own. And going with it rather than resisting it just takes away the stress. Happy 2014 to you too. :)

  5. The repetition of the first stanza adds power to this piece. And the message conveys a certain wisdom.

    1. Thanks Kim. I kind of needed something to round off the poem so thought the first verse was a nice way to do it. Glad you liked the effect.

  7. It is not a bad thing, this resolve to go with the flow - sometimes one has to remind oneself not to over-think things and to just live.

    1. Thanks Kerry. We get so caught up in the rat race and then frustration sets in. Going with the flow is less demanding and frustrating.

  8. smiles...yes, if we let, the universe...has plans far bigger than any we could ever dream....
but it requires us letting go a bit of control.

  10. It is best to go with the flow as the universe indeed has it's own plan
and you cannot alter what the universe has in store.

    1. Very true Truedessa, that we can't alter what the universe has in store, we may divert our path but we will eventually come back to it's path. Thanks for stopping by.

  11. Suzy, I am with you as far as New Year's Revolutions as well. I prefer to go with the flow and make modifications periodically....but for me to set myself up to keeping a resolution would be setting myself up for failure.

    1. Thanks Mary. And I set myself up for failure many times before I abandoned that route.

  13. Going with the flow with maybe a little bit of a goal thrown in?
I couldn't get through life by just letting go.

    1. If that works for you Pea then that is the right way. Let's just say I'm a little weary of that cheeky Universe constantly changing the goal post on me :)

  16. So wise not to make resolutions - it is as almost as if we are designed to break them..
