The Wealth of Love

We are born of love, love is our mother
~ Rumi

The wealth of love is eternal
No force can away it snatch
An emotion so primal
None other can it match

Available in abundance
Yet so hard for us to find
Forgotten its existence
Lost in vestiges of mankind

The human race must transform
All acts with kndness must it do
Seems harder than the fiercest storm
Is to let the love shine through

Do we even comprehend
What love truly means
It's a divine gift He blessed
With no expectation no fees

Its value so priceless
No gem can hold its light
Yet for it we are careless
And against it often fight

Crossed over then we see its worth
For love is only bliss
Such a wasted time this birth
Love was all that is

The wealth of love is eternal
No force can away it snatch
An emotion so primal
None other can it match

A Flower Was Offered To Me

This poem is written from the viewpoint of the Goddess who has received an offering from a young child, a flower placed at the feet of Her idol in the temple.

A flower was offered to me
With folded hands she stood there
A little child but barely three
Eyes shut in sincere prayer

She spoke such simple words
Her heart so full of faith
The plea in love I heard
To change someone's fate

Though destiny has a different path
How could I break her soul
Compassion filled my heavy heart
While the young one did extol

What is inevitably written
Even Goddess cannot change
But perhaps grant a short reprieve
Within Divinity's allowed range

I took the flower in my hands
And blessings did bestow
I broke those firm destiny bands
And altered that life's flow.

~x~

I believe that what is destined is inevitable, but I also hope that God and Goddess can grant us a reprieve, a slight change in our path if we ask with sincerity, with no agenda, with love and faith and with the innocence of a child.

Joy

I searched for joy in places near and far
I left no stone unturned
But joy it ran like a speeding car
And all my efforts spurned

I thought I'd find it in my things
In exciting adventures
In all the things that shine and bling
In fortune fame and treasure

Perhaps I'd trap it in a Winter drift
Or in February, May or September
Maybe it will be a gift
I get in a day in October

The more I tried, the more I failed
For joy could not be caught
I shouted loud and cajoled and hailed
Seemed like with me it fought

One day I left that battle field
And blended in with nature
With no expectation of any yield
Or fear of any failure

And then I sensed it all around
Joy always exists
It's not a thing that can be found
Within you it just is.
