New Year Resolutions
I left a long time ago
Never comes to fruition
So now I go with the flow
The Universe has
A plan of its own
Erases mine enmasse
Plants its, firm like a throne
Its amazing plan
I've learned to trust
Sometimes hard to understand
But always robust
Eventually I find
They're grand and exciting
Better than mine
And always uplifting
New Year Resolutions
I left a long time ago
Never comes to fruition
So now I go with the flow

Happy new year and god bless!!
ReplyDeleteThanks Vandana. Wish you the same.
DeleteLoved this! I think I will follow suit and just go with the flow trying to hitchhike on the waves of joy and compassion whenever the opportunity arises.
ReplyDelete<3
Thanks Jessica. Going with the flow has made my life infinitely easier.
DeleteNice poem, Suzy. I like the sentiment. I, too, just go with the flow and don't make resolutions that set me up for failure. The Universe always has other plans anyhow! I've learned that as I age, acceptance of what is becomes more and more important. ;) Happy 2014!
ReplyDeleteThanks Cat. So true, the Universe just has a mind of it's own. And going with it rather than resisting it just takes away the stress. Happy 2014 to you too. :)
DeleteA good policy and a great write.
ReplyDeleteCheers
Pea
Thanks Pea. Glad you liked it.
DeleteYes, the universe has a plan and we are so small in it. Great prospective and wisdom
ReplyDeleteThanks Susie. So true, We are just a tiny dot and all connected together.
DeleteThe repetition of the first stanza adds power to this piece. And the message conveys a certain wisdom.
ReplyDeleteThanks Kim. I kind of needed something to round off the poem so thought the first verse was a nice way to do it. Glad you liked the effect.
Deleteswimming upstream just wears you out. Going with the flow isn't always easy either. :)
ReplyDeletePossibly not Margaret, but much easier than paddling upstream. Thanks for visiting.
DeleteExactly!
ReplyDeleteThanks Mama Zen. :)
DeleteIt is not a bad thing, this resolve to go with the flow - sometimes one has to remind oneself not to over-think things and to just live.
ReplyDeleteThanks Kerry. We get so caught up in the rat race and then frustration sets in. Going with the flow is less demanding and frustrating.
Deletesmiles...yes, if we let, the universe...has plans far bigger than any we could ever dream....
ReplyDeletebut it requires us letting go a bit of control.
True Brian - we've got to let go and let the Universe in.
DeleteGoing with the flow is a wise course, easier than swimming upstream! Good one, Suzy!
ReplyDeleteThanks Sherry. Definitely easier than swimming upstream.
DeleteIt is best to go with the flow as the universe indeed has it's own plan
ReplyDeleteand you cannot alter what the universe has in store.
Very true Truedessa, that we can't alter what the universe has in store, we may divert our path but we will eventually come back to it's path. Thanks for stopping by.
DeleteSuzy, I am with you as far as New Year's Revolutions as well. I prefer to go with the flow and make modifications periodically....but for me to set myself up to keeping a resolution would be setting myself up for failure.
ReplyDeleteThanks Mary. And I set myself up for failure many times before I abandoned that route.
Deletea beautiful message to lessen the burden of life....
ReplyDeleteThanks Sumana. That is exactly right. Going with the flow lessens the burdens in life.
DeleteResolved not to resolve.
ReplyDeleteNice J Cosmo! :)
DeleteGoing with the flow with maybe a little bit of a goal thrown in?
ReplyDeleteI couldn't get through life by just letting go.
If that works for you Pea then that is the right way. Let's just say I'm a little weary of that cheeky Universe constantly changing the goal post on me :)
DeleteI don't know if you intended to but this nicely fits my Existentialistic trappings. Add passion and you have it all.
ReplyDeleteThanks Stormcat. Obviously the Universe intended me to write this and for you to stop by and read :)
DeleteSuzy it's wonderful to have that kind of faith in the universe... It doesn't cease to amaze you no? Aa they say whatever happens, happens for good. Loved your poem and your take on resolutions!
ReplyDeleteThanks Aditi. The Universe never ceases to amaze and it's actually so exciting once you let go and take the ride.
DeleteSo wise not to make resolutions - it is as almost as if we are designed to break them..
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year!
Anna :o].
So true Anna. It certainly takes the stress out of not fulfilling them.
