Take the road less travelled
Said a thought inside my head
That road is long and gravelled
But to treasures you'll be led
Take the next detour
Said a thought inside my head
Though it drizzles, maybe pours
But to sunshine you'll be led
The feet they keep to familiar path
Squashed is the thought inside my head
Then Spirit nudges without wrath
The road I walk is shred
You cannot reach the highest heights
If you cannot try be bold
Learn not to push away or fight
The voices of your soul

What a lovely poem...it can be so hard to let our soul's voice be heard. You've expressed this beautifully!
ReplyDeleteThanks Sherri - but I'm glad it never stops trying!
DeleteSo inspirational... the voices of our soul do know what's best for us.
ReplyDeleteThanks Laurie - they sure do, if only we would listen.
DeleteBeautiful,,,,really sometimes we need to fight our inner self.
ReplyDeleteThanks Vandana - that inner voice is very persistent.
DeleteI love to listen to my voices. The more I listen the more they speak to me. I don't think poets could write without them. You say it all so well and so beautifully. Thank you
ReplyDeleteThanks Stormcat. I think you hit the nail on the head, if you listen, they speak more. They certainly know what they are saying.
DeleteWhat an inspiring poem! It's the intuitive voices, we seem to ignore, but should listen hard to!
ReplyDeleteThanks Nandana. You are so right, those intuitive voices hold a lot of wisdom, but we refuse to listen.
DeleteOh I so love that: "the voices of your soul". Exactly.
ReplyDeleteThanks Sherry. Yep, of the soul - those are the voices to heed.
Deletethe road less travelled is the street I live on ;). great job!
ReplyDeleteThanks Andrea. That's great that you can take that road - I am still not at the point where I can take the big leap of faith.
DeleteVery true....I'm learning this as I get older, even on little things like taking a back road home from work, just because....
ReplyDeleteThanks. I think as the years go on, the awakening comes or perhaps we just get wiser. I like to take the scenic road rather than the motorway - not always but sometimes.
Deletetrue on the boldness it takes to follow that road less traveled, but it does afford a much better view and life...smiles.
ReplyDeleteThanks Brian. Yes, boldness is required - I'm not there yet, though I know it will have a better view and life.
DeleteVery inspirational one...Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteThanks Ekta - glad you liked it.
DeleteWell Said.......... We cant dont has courage to go and try new things......... Very nice........
ReplyDeleteThanks Lasha - we need courage to make changes. Thanks for visiting.
DeleteWonderfully written and we all have those voices telling us the easy or hard way through life and we decide which to listen to. Thank you for sharing.
ReplyDeleteThanks Donetta. Usually the voices of our soul show us the easy way but we don't believe that and continue down the difficult path. Thanks for dropping by.
DeleteI love the message in this one, Suzy. Robert has a rival!
ReplyDeleteThanks. Glad you do :)
DeleteThe voices of the soul - Always listen to the heart and feel the blood in your veins and the voices of the soul. Beautifully written
ReplyDeleteThanks Alan. The heart and soul know so much more. Thanks for visiting.
DeleteYes, it is wise to listen to that inner voice. I like the journey of your thoughts in this piece.
ReplyDeleteThanks - that journey is often taken inside my head :)
DeleteBrilliant reflection! I think we are more satisfied, content, when we learn to clearly hear our inner voice and then react in accordance.

Thanks Kim. It's very wise to follow that voice, and yet we hesitate to do so.
DeleteYou are so right! Best not to squash those thoughts or push them away!
ReplyDeleteThanks Robyn. But ever so hard to trust them and take that step.
DeleteI really, REALLY enjoyed the message in this poem and the form you used to express it. We do need to live boldly, don't we? We can't reach those heights if we hold ourselves back. This is one that should be read daily. Smiles.
ReplyDeleteThanks Mary, yes we do need to be bold and take the different path - but so hard to move out of the comfort zone.
DeleteI like what you've said and admire the way you've said it. You do both rhyme and rhythm very well.
